What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a totally safe, natural & powerful therapeutic tool for accessing the subconscious mind and affecting desired changes. Despite its immense power, there are few procedures more plagued by misconceptions.
Unfortunately, many of these misconceptions still remain today. If you ask the average person what he or she thinks hypnosis is, they may respond with any number of answers, including; sleep, unconsciousness, mind control, or even magic. All of these ideas are wrong, but continue to persist, perpetuated by novels and films. Many films, for instance, portray hypnosis as a way for the villain to gain control over his victims. These misconceptions prevent many people, who could benefit from hypnotherapy, from ever trying it. Those who do try hypnotherapy often spend their first session unlearning their misconceptions.

Hypnosis is in fact a heightened state of concentration. The subject is fully aware and able to respond to requests. There is no surrender of control. No one can be hypnotised against his or her will; and no hypnotised person can be forced to do anything against his or her will.  There is absolutely no danger of being "stuck in trance". Should anything happen that required immediate attention a hypnotised person would return to normal consciousness, in a similar way to someone who is daydreaming then becomes fully alert, when necessary.
